Artificial grass in Manteca is extremely hard-wearing. Things that will destroy natural grass, such as heavy furniture, constant foot traffic, bad weather and dogs barely have any effect on synthetic turf.
However, it’s not 100% indestructible.
Artificial grass can last for a long time (from 10 to 15 years and longer!) and so do its benefits. That’s right— more than a decade of very little maintenance plus a safe, lower Manteca water bill and beautiful lawn for you and your loved ones to enjoy.
Naturally, the last thing you want to do is permanently damage it.
To help you protect your investment, we’ve compiled a list of five things you should avoid doing on artificial grass. A lot of these may seem obvious, but if you’ve never had artificial turf in Manteca CA before, some of them may not occur to you. Feel free to share them with friends and family!
Want Your Artificial Turf to Last? Avoid These Five Things:
-
1. Never smoke cigarettes on an artificial lawn
The best artificial turf in Manteca is fire-resistant. This means if the worst happens, your synthetic lawn will not catch fire. Even so, don’t smoke on or near your artificial turf products. While heat won’t set your turf alight, it can easily melt the synthetic fibers.
The same goes for grills and fire pits. Make sure to place them on some form of hardscape, such as a stone or concrete patio, located a short distance away from your artificial lawn.
-
2. Don’t park or drive your car over synthetic turf
Synthetic turf is an excellent way to visually soften a concrete driveway or make paving blend better with your landscape. In general, however, avoid creating an entire parking area made purely of artificial grass.
First, the rubber tires can tear the synthetic fibers off the backing. In addition, repeatedly driving over a synthetic grass installation can pull the entire turf from the edges, no matter how well it’s secured. And while it’s possible to remove dripping oil from synthetic grass, it can be difficult and can cause discoloration if you use the wrong cleaning materials.
Instead of covering your whole parking area with synthetic turf, you can use it to decorate the space instead. For instance, you can outline patterns or edge your driveway with synthetic grass. 3. Keep sharp objects away from artificial turf
This includes knives, furniture with sharp edges and other items that can cut through the latex backing. On the other hand, feel free to place heavy furniture, playground equipment on your synthetic lawn. Just remember to check for any sharp edges before doing so.
-
4. Keep items like adhesives, oils or chewing gum away from your synthetic grass
While these objects can be removed from synthetic turf, prevention is always better than cure when it comes to taking care of artificial grass. For instance, chewing gum can get tangled up in the fibers. Oil can seep into the backing and adhesives can make the fibers stick together.
If it does happen, however, don’t forget these tips:
- For spills, soak up as much of the liquid as you can with cloth or a dry absorbent like kitty litter. Then, use soapy water to remove whatever’s left behind.
- Use white spirit for any oil-based substances.
- Use a plastic spatula to remove chewing gum. In case it hardens into the turf, you may need to freeze it off using dry ice or an ice cube before carefully taking the gum off.
-
5. Try to keep artificial grass products away from reflected sunlight
Synthetic turf can easily withstand heat from the sun and even the hottest summer days won’t melt or damage your turf. However, reflected light from glass has a magnifying effect. Too much exposure to reflected sunlight can potentially singe synthetic turf fibers.
To prevent this, try to keep synthetic turf away from windows. Talk to your artificial grass installer in Manteca to determine the best placement for the installation. If placing it away from windows is not possible, consider covering the area with shade. Not only will it keep the space cool, but it will also reduce the reflection off any windows in the vicinity.
